What a Sculpture Garden at SXSW Revealed

While in Austin, I had the chance to experience the energy and culture of SXSW firsthand, and I was grateful to be immersed in events like WOLF CONNECT.

I was reminded that the strongest brand experiences do not rely on noise or overproduction. They create the right environment for people to connect. The panels focused on brand growth, culture, marketing technology, market trends, e-commerce, and of course the topic: AI. This event itself brought those ideas to life through art, tastings, conversation, and thoughtful partner activations.

If you are looking at your own event or activation, here are three practical ways to strengthen it:

  1. Give people a reason to lean in
    Add one simple way for people to engage, not only observe. That could be a tasting, live demo, photo moment, or a space that makes conversation easy. It was great meeting the people behind the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) brands as they truly matter most.

  2. Let the space support the tone
  3. Your venue and setup shape how people feel. Choose a space and flow that support the kind of experience you want people to remember. Following the trail throughout the garden felt guided, but not pushy.

  4. Every brand at the table should earn its place
    Make sure sponsors and partners add to the experience in a useful way. If it feels random or distracting, it weakens the overall brand. Remember, you should be proud to stand alongside the partners you collaborate with.
