📍Captiva, FL - As some of you already know, Christmas and vintage are some of my favorite things so this was quite a special treat to find it all rolled into one at The Bubble Room!

Because Every Day is Christmas Here

Christmas bubble lights and palm trees, tinsel and tropical color, vintage images and toys, all of it woven together somehow. Every corner I turned had something new. It should have been too much, but instead it flowed quirky, warm, and impossible into one story. I kept turning my head like a child trying to take it all in as I went to The Bubble Room for my first time. This is the thing I am always asking brands to do: be noticed and help others stay curious about you.

Here are three things this amazing restaurant taught Dirk and me:

  1. Before and after
As you walk the yellow brick road, carolers greet you from the porch above, pastel colors everywhere, and once you open the door, they keep that same promise inside. The welcome starts early.

  2. The detail tells the truth
Under every glass tabletop, there was a world of vintage trinkets, postcards, marbles, and photographs. Wherever we sat, it felt like staring into a mini I Spy game. A thousand details, one idea. That is focus.

  3. Brand culture lends to the magic
The employees (AKA the Scouts) would share a warm smile and tell us "It's Christmas every day here." Every shift, even during June's slow season, everyone meant it. Consistency is the quiet discipline.

Moment of Gratitude

Dirk and I walked in hot, exhausted and starving after a long day on the beach. We arrived at 2:56pm soon learning that they were closing the kitchen at 3:00pm due to flipping the staff for dinner and not reopening until 4:30pm. We were ready to cut our losses. Then the hostess smiled and said, "Order in the next three minutes and we will seat you." We could not believe it.

We asked our waiter for his top picks and flew through the ordering process so we would not hold anyone up. A virgin watermelon piña colada, plus shrimp tossed with fruit over rice inside a huge pineapple half, and dessert which was a towering slice of their famous homemade Jamaican Rum Cake. Everything from the service to the food was excellent. We will be back, not just for the food, but for how they made us feel.
